This would provide funding to public schools and childcare programs to purchase Massachusetts ingredients, prepare scratch-cooked meals and educate students about the food system.

This bill was reported favorably by the Committee of Education and referred to the committee on Senate Ways and Means on September 22nd, 2025.
This would increase the amount of cash assistance grants to families with children living in deep poverty. Currently, a family of 3 would receive a maximum of $783 per month in support, less than half of the $2,220 per month to reach the federal poverty level and far less than a living wage. This bill would increase grants to ensure they are at least half the federal poverty level.

On September 16th, 2025, Project Bread testified in support of this bill to the Committee on Children, Families, and Persons with Disabilities.
This would strengthen the state Earned Income Tax Credit and Child and Family Tax Credit. The bill would also expand eligibility to include immigrant and mixed status families, families with more than 3 children, and workers without dependents.
