Save the Date! January 15 is the #StopthatSNAPShift Day of Action.

Speak Up to Defend SNAP

Join advocates across the United States and tell Congress members working on a fiscal year 2026 appropriations package that repealing harmful SNAP cost shifts to states must be front and center.

For the first time, states are required to pay a share of SNAP benefit costs and to cover increased administrative costs because of H.R.1. States cannot afford these new costs. This shift threatens States' ability to administer SNAP and puts food at risk for millions of people including older adults, children, veterans and people with disabilities.

The Food Research & Action Center is urging individuals to reach out to members of Congress and tell them to include a provision to mitigate the SNAP cost shift to states in the Jan. 30 legislation.

See what this cost shift really means and why Congress must #stopthatSNAPshift
